Herbruck’s Poultry Ranch has been operating in Michigan for the past 50 years and is one
of the largest producers of organic eggs in the US. They are opening a new cage-free
housing facility which includes 340,000 laying hens and an in-line egg processing plant
near Saranac, MI called Green Meadow Organics. This new state of the art facility will
create approximately 40 new jobs in Ionia County. For nearly a decade, Herbruck's has
farmed out organic hens to other operations but now needs to add more capacity. With
the demand rising for more organic eggs, four 85,000-hen poultry houses are planned
at Green Meadow. These houses will also include an area called a winter garden that
will let the birds move back and forth between protected outdoor areas and the houses
themselves. There is also room on the property for four more houses that would push
the company's number of organic hens past 1 million and total number of hens to 6 million.
Members of this four generation business celebrated the grand opening of this new
complex with an open house to select vendors and neighbors. This event included a
guided tour of the entire facility along with an omelet brunch for all invitees. The brunch
was kicked off with some stories and an omelet making demonstration from Howard
Helmer, the gentleman who currently holds the Guinness record as the fastest omelet
cooker in the world. Howard is also a spokesperson for the American Egg Board. A
partner of Diamond for nearly 50 years, Herbruck’s selected the Diamond inline/offline
12W Innova system for this important facility with automatic egg washing, electronic
crack and leak detection, dirt detection, blood detection and automatic packing. If you
are interested in the Innova grading line, please call Diamond headquarters at
  248-476-7100 for more information. |
